TONIGHT, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT DEATH.
The new Vlks single is ‘Good Grief’. You can buy it from all online stores and/or listen to it on Spotify and Soundcloud etc right now.
‘Good Grief’ is the third single by Vlks. With the group previously described by The Guardian as ‘elegiac indie gloom’, you’ve had a melodramatic, melancholy single about mass reactions to death on the cards for a while. So here it is. Recorded with Jim Riley at Ranscombe Studios, and with graveyard artwork by Christoff Spurr, ‘Good Grief’ does everything just described above with an almighty wry smile. That’s what pop music is for, no?
The single follows on from previous chirpy chart smashes ‘Day of Bees’ and ‘Clutter’, with their airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing secured and comparisons to The Smiths and Wild Beasts from the thronging media. Vlks haven’t played live since the Fly Awards show in February, and there are no plans to play at the moment in case you’re asking.
Thanks for coming out in force amidst non-stop rain and forever-stopped underground trains last night. Appreciate it loads. The new songs we played were ‘Good Grief’, ‘The Sweep’ and ‘Dogs’. We’ll sling them out soon, right? SOON.
Stay tuned for more news. Enjoy the rest of The Fly awards. And avoid the tube.
ALERT! IF ANYONE HAS ANY PHOTOS FROM LAST NIGHT, PLEASE E-MAIL THEM TO firstname.lastname@example.org
